Where can I find the manual for my extender system?

Where can I find the manual for my extender system?

Printouts of any documentation (manuals, installation guides) are provided in the package contents of the devices.

The documenation is also available as Download.

Can I use CAT-based extender systems in my home network?

Can I use CAT-based extender systems in my home network?

Our extenders can use existing CAT-x cables. Please ensure that the transmission ports are not connected to any data network components (switches, router, hubs, etc.).

Such a connection could damage the devices and lead to a loss of warranty. Often, the cables (fully connected and shielded) can be used for our signal transmission. However, sometimes the maximum distance or resolution cannot be reached with your cable type. Feel free to contact us when in doubt.

Can I still purchase -Rem and -PC extenders?

Can I still purchase -Rem and -PC extenders?

In part, yes. CAT-Rem systems are still available; please ask our sales team for a quote.

If the computer module is damaged, the line probably needs to be replaced. In this case please contact our sales or support team.

I want to readjust a DVI signal but don't have an OSD?

I want to readjust a DVI signal but don't have an OSD?

Thanks to their architecture, most devices with DVI-D signals take over this job.  The devices auto-readjust the signal and therefore always display an optimised image at both consoles.

Can I upgrade an extender to transmit more signals (USB, Audio, RS232)?

Can I upgrade an extender to transmit more signals (USB, Audio, RS232)?

Many of our devices can be upgraded ex works. We will be pleased to make you an offer for upgrading your devices.

Please note that we need both devices (computer and user module) to execute the upgrade, since both devices must be equipped with the required units and connectors.

What's the difference between twin- and multi-channel extenders?

What's the difference between twin- and multi-channel extenders?

Twin devices are two identical, independent modules that transmit the same signals. Both modules are placed next to each other on one 19“ rack unit. Each module transmits a video, keyboard, and mouse signal.

Multi-channel extenders (MC)
access several video channels per computer (e.g.: 2 to 4xVGA or 2 to 4xDVI). Keyboard and mouse signals are only transmitted once.

Most recently, we developed a solution that lets you create twin solutions for any devices housed in a 210 mm x 1U casing.

Can I use an extender to turn a remote computer on or off?

Can I use an extender to turn a remote computer on or off?

Yes. The only requirement for this are "AR" or "ARU" extenders (e.g. CATVision-ARU-CPU und -CON).

Also don't forget to add the "Power" expansion (Bsp.: "CV Power"). Existing systems can be upgraded ex works. Please contact our sales team for further information.

Do you offer extenders that transmit only one signal (e.g. audio or USB 2.0)?

Do you offer extenders that transmit only one signal (e.g. audio or USB 2.0)?

Yes. We offer single-signal extenders for transmitting, e.g., RS232, USB2.0, audio, DVI and VGA signals.

Our sales team provides more information regarding the devices. You can also take at look at our Signal Extenders section.

What extender is best suited for galvanic separation?

What extender is best suited for galvanic separation?

Each extender that uses fibre optics provides a galvanic separation, e.g.:

  • LwLVision
  • FIBREVision
  • DL-Vision
  • DL-Compact

What extender is best suited for existing LwL cablings?

What extender is best suited for existing LwL cablings?

The answer to this question depends on the employed fibres and connectors.
You need to know....

  • the fibre type (multi- or single-mode)
  • the fibre diameter ( 50 or 62,5 or 9 / 125 μm)
  • the fibre quality (e.g. 2.000 MHz*km, OS1)
  • the connector type (e.g. LC duplex/SC duplex)
  • the number of available fibres

If in doubt, please contact our sales team.

CATVision

My CATVision changes the resolution after a restart - what can I do?

My CATVision changes the resolution after a restart - what can I do?

For some combinations (e.g. a resolution of 1680 x 1050), the CATVision cannot properly process the DDC information.

In this case, please ask our sales or support team for DDC adapters supporting the desired resolution.

DL-Vision

Can I use the DL-Vision network port for KVM-over-IP?

Can I use the DL-Vision network port for KVM-over-IP?

No. The port is only provided for configuring and monitoring the device. Employing the port with the hardware appliance G&D DevCon-Center gives you comprehensive possibilities to monitor the administrated devices.
