What's the difference between CATCenter X2 and NEO4/8/16?
What's the difference between CATCenter X2 and NEO4/8/16?
The CATCenter matrix switches are differentiated according to the number of ports at the basic devices and the supported signals.
The low-price matrix solution containing the CATCenter X2 or CompactCenter X2 meets the requirements of smaller installations. Two users can access up to 16 (CATCenter X2 up to 1024) computers.
The NEO series is best suited for large and growing installations, but can also be employed if you require access to the network and want to choose the console type.
Both CATCenter NEO and CompactCenter X2 provide two network ports for configuring and authenticating (CompactCenter X2: also KVM-over-IP) the devices.
For more information about differences and similarities, please contact our sales team.
Can I operate the CATCenter in my network?
Can I operate the CATCenter in my network?
The configuration interface of the CATCenter NEO4/8/16 or CompactCenterX2 can be used for IP switching commands and for configuring the devices over network.
KVM-over-IP for the CATCenter additionally requires the UCON-IP-NEO, which provides an IP channel for each device.
The transmission interfaces of target and console ports require a 1:1 connection. When connected to the data network, they must not be connected to hubs, switches, routers, etc.
Can matrix switches be used to start a computer remotely?
Can matrix switches be used to start a computer remotely?
Yes. This requires the HardBoot CCX expansion, which must be connected to the central unit of a matrix switch. Use the configuration of the matrix to assign the computers to the power outlets of the HardBoot.
To autostart the computers with the Power-ON, their BIOS values need to be adjusted accordingly (depending on computer and BIOS).
Can I include computers with multiple video channels into the matrix?
Can I include computers with multiple video channels into the matrix?
Yes. Each image requires a target module, and, if necessary, an additional power pack if the computer has not enough USB ports available.
The user side requires one UCON for each image. Thanks to the TS function (TradeSwitch), you only need one keyboard/mouse at the desk. That way, the individual signals are combined to create one logical console.
Please contact our sales team for more information.
Can I operate the matrix with a Linux computer?
Can I operate the matrix with a Linux computer?
Yes. When combined with UCON-IP-NEO or CompactCenter X2 and the native GNU-Linux or Java client, various platforms can access the matrix over IP.
Please contact our sales team for more information.
Can I still purchase parts for the matrix using slot cards?

Do I need to install special software on my computers to use a G&D matrix solution?
